Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, minced garlic, grated ginger, and beef or chicken broth. Mix well to make the sauce. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until it's browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for about 3 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the broccoli, and bring it to a simmer. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the broccoli.
  7. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, and toss it with the broccoli and sauce until everything is well combined and heated through.
  8. Remove the skillet from heat.
  9. Serve the Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry over cooked white rice.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for extra flavor and presentation.
